We lock our lobby between 11AM & 3PM so we can go about our business and get the rooms all clean and ready for you! Our lobby door is accessible by a code which will be sent to you 24 hours prior to your arrival -  so you’re welcome to come in and drop of your bags before check-in.

Parking

Parking for a vehicle is $10/night and is cash only
Friday & Saturday nights only (mid-March until December)

We offer limited parking a few steps away from the hostel on Friday and Saturday nights between April and December.
If you book for Friday night, you must be out of the spot by 1PM on Saturday.
If you book for both Friday and Saturday or Saturday only, you must be out of the spot by 5PM on Sunday.
Please contact the hostel directly to reserve a spot.

We are a city hostel, and with that comes city parking. The Black Elephant is in a great location, so we do have a good amount of free on-street parking available nearby. Keep an eye out for 1 or 2 hour limits on the spots*, but keep in mind that it’s only enforced between 9am-5pm (900-1700), so if you check in at 4 and find a one hour spot across the street, you won’t need to move it until 10am! If you don’t want to do the city parking shuffle, we’d be happy to refer you to some local parking garages – or see below for more info on the matter.

*Please note each side of the street around the hostel has a no parking night, look for that sign! We are not responsible for your tickets.

Hostel Etiquette

1) Please don't turn on the lights when others in your room are sleeping. Use your reading lamp or cellphone flashlight.

2) Don’t slam doors. If you are coming and going, especially at night, gently close the door.

3) Be quiet.  If you want to chat in the middle of the night, leave the room and let others sleep.

4) Pack bags the night before so you are ready to leave effortlessly and quietly in the morning.

5) Don't unpack your backpack on the floor or take up the majority of the common space.

6)  Please don’t talk on your cell phone in the room, it is best to find somewhere private to talk

7) Having sex in a shared dorm is not acceptable. Other guests don’t want to be present for it.

8) Eat your food, not the food other people are saving for themselves.

9) Clean up after yourself.  Wash your dishes & keep the kitchen and dining areas free of mess.

10) Internet – Just because wifi is free, you really shouldn’t be on your devices for extended periods of time, especially if you don’t know others in your room.  You’re in a hostel, have fun, talk to people!
