Portland Head Light

Located in Cape Elizabeth, the Portland Head Light (Maine’s oldest lighthouse) is the most photographed lighthouse in the world, and you might just recognize it! Only a 20-minute drive from the hostel, the lighthouse is adjacent to Fort Williams Park, a 90-acre waterfront area open from sunrise to sunset, with walking trails and other recreational activities for visitors. Park staff offer free daily walking tours at 3pm between mid-May and mid-October.

Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse

The Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse in South Portland offers occasional guided and private tours, weather permitting. Built in 1897, this lighthouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988 and is the only walkable caisson-style lighthouse in the United States. Only a 16-minute drive from the hostel, this lighthouse is a must-see on your way to or from the Portland Head Light. If you're up for a challenge, enjoy a scenic, 4.5 mile bike ride to the lighthouse from Downtown Portland!
