What's Happening Now

On  March 11, 2020 - the World Health Organization declared the Covid – 19 virus to be a pandemic.  This virus must be taken seriously.

Sunday March 15, 2020

Dear Guests,

As the COVID-19 virus has been deemed a global pandemic and our country has declared a national state of emergency, I have decided to close the hostel starting Monday March 16, 2020. We will tentatively plan to reopen May15, 2020.  We will be closely monitoring and evaluating the spread of the virus and adjusting our reopening date accordingly.

The CDC has recommended social isolation and self-quarantine to protect ourselves and one another, therefore I feel shutting our doors for the time being is the best call to ensure the health of our guests, staff and local community.

While we pride ourselves on cleanliness, keeping a virus free space is too great of a burden. We do not have guidance as to the parameters of caring for guests who fall ill, nor are we equipped to quarantine you. I am taking these measures to protect us all.

If you have booked with us directly, your deposit will be refunded in the next two days. If you have booked online through an Online Travel Agency such as Airbnb, Booking.com, or Expedia, I will notify them of the closure and ask that they refund you.

People are reacting in many different ways to the news of this virus. Some may feel that I am overreacting while many of you may cancel in the upcoming days of your own volition. As we have been asked as a country to practice social distancing and to cancel any unnecessary travel, closing the hostel is the logical and practical thing to do.  We all must do our part.

I love our hostel, I love our guests, and I am doing what I feel is best in these uncertain times. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. I am afraid we are all in for a good deal more inconveniences in the upcoming days and weeks.

Hang tight- we will make it through.  We look forward to hosting you in the not so distant future !

Covid - 19 and our Cancellation Policy

We are trying to adhere to recommendations, which change daily.  If you have booked through an OTA - Air bnb, expedia or booking.com - we must follow their recommended policies.  If you would like to cancel your reservation please do so through them directly and we will refund your deposits accordingly.

If you book directly through us, please be aware that after March 14th we will not refund any reservations that are made if you cancel outside our regular cancellation window of 48 hours.  We will do our best to rebook you to a later date if necessary - or may issue a credit for your stay that can be used on a future reservation within a year of your original stay date.

If you want to book a trip but are nervous about the virus - Find a "cancel for any reason" policy from a reputable travel insurance source. Here are a few suggestions - AIG TravelAllianz Travel InsuranceArch RoamRightGenerali Global AssistanceTravelex or through a travel insurance site like G1G TravelSeven CornersTravelInsurance.com or Squaremouth.
